Svab, Beatrice (nee Desrochers)
December 27, 1918 - November 29, 2016

Born Beatrice Noella Desrochers in Verdun, QC to the late Henri and Edwilda Desrochers. Predeceased by infant children William and Helen, and recently by son Norman, she is survived by her loving husband Bill of 66 years, and children John (Rita Fatica), and Margaret (Donald Burton). Adored grandmother of John-Michael (Jennifer Feeney-Svab), David (Karen), Laura (Francis Methot), Paul (Karen), Ian Burton and Emily Burton (Skye Purdy). Grandma 'B's' joy and delight in recent years were the times spent among her family, especially her great-grandchildren: Bronwen, Declan, Owen, Logan, and Abigail. As a young adult, Bea lived in Montreal and worked at 25COD Longue-Pointe, where she fell in love with and married Lt. Bill Svab (RCEME). For 35 years she traveled the world with her husband in the military, raising her family and forming lifelong friendships wherever they were posted. Upon their retirement to Ottawa, she dedicated her free time to volunteering in her church community, as a life member of the CWL and especially at Madonna Nursing home in Orleans. Along with her many activities she dedicated herself to supporting Bill in his second career in the RC Diaconate. She led a busy life always ready to help friend and stranger at home and abroad. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff and palliative care volunteers at Carleton Lodge for making Bea's final weeks so comfortable and peaceful. Donations may be made in her memory to the Youville Center or to any food bank. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, Barrhaven Chapel Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday to St. Patrick’s Church, Fallowfield for Mass of Christian Funeral at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
