<div itemprop="description">Peacefully at St. Patrick’s Home Ottawa after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Doris was born in Mayo, Que. to Fred and Maude (Kyle) Maloney on September 12, 1919. She was the eldest of 10 children. Doris attended a one room school house where she excelled academically and with many awards. For many years she attended the annual pilgrimage to Our Lady of Knock Shrine in Mayo. As a young girl she came to Ottawa to work as a nanny and also at the Lord Elgin Hotel. In 1942 she married Vincent Holmes of Cantley, Que. He predeceased her in 1985. She is survived by her only beloved daughter Anita Zeccola and her son-in-law Larry of Newark Delaware. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Meryl Cashman, Orville, Greg, Clarence and Lois Peori. She is survived by her supportive and loving sisters Hazel Poirier, Alice Bull and Anne McKeon and her brother Gerry and wife Jeanie. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Nora Benson and husband Dale, Claire Elder, Margaret Robinson, and Lucille Thibert. Doris will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Doris was an excellent seamstress and quilter and could perform magic with fabric. She made many wedding, bridesmaid and prom dresses. Doris was a 50 year lifelong member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. George’s R.C. Church and held numerous offices over the years. She was very active in the social committee when she lived in her condo at The Carling Terrace. She especially enjoyed “Euchre Night”. Special thanks to the staff at St. Patrick’s home for their conscientious care for Doris over many years. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, Barrhaven Chapel, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue, Nepean, ON K2J 4G3, 613-823-4747, Sunday, October 23rd, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, October 24th, 2016 at 11 o’clock. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. In Memoriam donations to St. Patrick’s Home Ottawa(2865 Riverside Drive. Ottawa. K1V 8N5), appreciated.</div>
