<div itemprop="description">On December 9, 2016, Roberta Fernandes, died at the age of 77, under the compassionate care of staff and volunteers at Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital, in Ottawa, Ontario. Daughter of Robert and Evelyn Godin (maiden name Gonsalves), and youngest sister to Hubert (deceased), Albert and Norbert. She has been married to the love of her life, Ralph Fernandes, for 46 years and will always be cherished by her children, Rachel (married name Fernandes-Ubell), Ryan and Rhonda and their spouses, Laurence Ubell, Julie-Anne Houle and Damien Jamison. Her greatest legacy are her three beautiful grandchildren whom she adored and they her in return, Clara and Alex Fernandes and Saoirse Jamison. <br>In 2002, she retired from the Regional Municipality of Ottawa Carleton and was a long time volunteer with the Catholic Women’s League, the Shepherds of Good Hope, the Ottawa Heart Institute and Centrepointe Theatre. With her loving husband Ralph, she travelled to 60 countries – savouring every opportunity to meet new people and to celebrate the richness of the diversity of cultures from around the world. <br>The funeral service and reception will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 11am, and led by Father Paul Shepherd, at St. Patrick’s Parish, 15 Steeple Hill Crescent, Nepean, Ontario. Visitation will be on Monday, December 12, 2016, between 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm, at Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue (Barrhaven), Nepean, Ontario. <br>In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ottawa Integrative Cancer Centre, The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Canadian Liver Foundation or a charity of your choice. <br>Roberta’s greatest ambition in life was to offer love, kindness and comfort to all those she met and she poured herself into her family, friends, church and community. She will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved her as a gentle woman, strong and bright, full of wisdom and full of love. <br></div>
